I'm taking an unauthorized break from my Psych term paper - the one everyone is tired of hearing about because I've been doing my darndest to psych myself up and do a really bang-up job on it. I know I could have just read the sources and then punched out an "A" paper in two hours, but I want to get back into the habit of really involving myself in a project. When I was in high school, I used to get so creative with assignments so that they would be interesting, even though it took so much extra time. For instance, in Sophomore Honors English we had to do a book project each semester. This involved making a display with a variety of elements (timeline, vocabulary words, character descriptions, etc.), and most people made a poster. Me? I read "To Kill A Mockingbird," then built a model setting, with a yard, picket fence with gate, snow, snowman, people, and a house. The house even had a porch, and the roof lifted off to reveal a pile of rolled-up, ribbon-tied papers holding the necessary information. I know, it's excessive, but at least then I could be proud of my work. Lately it's always, "Gee, I got an 'A,' good. I put minimal effort into it, so I don't really care." So hopefully this will be the rockingest term paper my Psych professor has ever read. It better be, considering I've had 8 hours of sleep since waking up Sunday morning. That's not entirely due to this assignment, though. Like the stupid little girl that I am (in spite of yesterday's entrance into legal adulthood) I was up late Sunday night talking with Politics Josh online. It was kind of hairy because we needed to "discuss our relationship" (barf! ew!) so as to eliminate that sort of charged atmosphere that occurs at times. It got late and my responses grew increasingly incoherent and we ended up discussing peripheral issues that are only minorly related to my decision not to date (anyone). Oh well.
