an inspiration

22 April, 2002

Finally did the senior picture thing yesterday. She took six rolls of film. That's no typo, friend - SIX. My math skills tell me that's over one hundred shots of my face. I don't know how she could handle it.

Anyway. We had a great youth core group meeting tonight. Everyone listened to each other and everyone shared openly. That may sound gay, but it was actually a lot of fun. Jeff, Danny and Josh's friend, is leaving Wednesday and I am rather disappointed. He was supposed to be staying for an undetermined amount of time, with the best estimate being somewhere around a month. It was cool having him around because he is totally funny and very honest.

Man alive. The ol' writin' wheels aren't turnin' very smoothly tonight.

A postcard arrived from Puerto Rico today. It's from my cousin, who is in the Navy. She is so awesome! She lost tons of weight so she could join up, and now she's going all over the world. I am so proud of her. She was always a great person - sweet since childhood - but the family situation was not ideal and she homeschooled to get away from people and raised birds as a hobby. Then all of a sudden she decided to do something with herself. She is so amazing.

This morning I got up and wrote e-mails for like an hour. The satisfaction of having written everyone back was short-lived, however, because a bunch of them promptly responded. One of them, Jake, who lives in Santa Rosa, wrote me not once but three times. He is so sweet.

So anyways, feeling content. I exercised this morning, had a quiet time, ate well, attempted to make peanut brittle (which came out more like peanut chew), babysat a collection of kids . . .

Babysitting is the best birth control.

. . . practiced guitar on the front porch to take advantage of the sun.
