music

01 May, 2002

Man!! It's after midnight again! This is unbelievable.

Ah well. Summer is almost here- I'll do my reading then.

So yeah. Paul, my guitar teacher, wants to teach me how to play bass just for fun. For free, apart from my regular lessons. I am so game for that. He said he has a friend who plays drums and they used to play original music together but they never had a bassist. So yeah, I'll jam with these guys. That will be a funny band - the middle-aged band teacher, his unidentified buddy, and . . . me. The unfashionable teenager, who would look more at home in a rock band with a mosh pit. Whatever. All you who come to the shows of this as-yet imaginary band will mosh, right?

Speaking of bands, there's a show down in Middletown this Friday. I'm close personal friends with a DJ who will be playing, and former close personal friends with the "headlining" band, yet I have no real desire to go. I think my desire was quelled when the person who was informing me said, "$3 in advance, $5 at the door." My first thought - and, obviously, the next thing out of my mouth - was "Taking this a bit seriously, aren't they?" However, I've always tried to support the local scene by showing up, since I don't believe I've ever been to a local show with more than forty or so people. Even the Noggin Toboggan / Shop 11 Phoenix / some-other-band-I-liked-but-whose-name-I-consistently-forget show was super small. So, I'll probably end up going - IF, that is, I can get someone to pick up an advance ticket for me.

Anyway. To bed with me since I have to work tomorrow.
